    Benefits of Massage Therapy

    massage-therapy
    • Relieve symptoms of stress and anxiety
    • Improve energy alertness
    • Increase nourishing blood supply to tissue
    • Aid in the recovery of pulled muscles and strained ligaments

Along with these benefits, a chain of healthy responses is set into action, all of which can help to strengthen the immune system, calm the nervous system, lower blood pressure, improve posture, and increase joint flexibility or range of motion.

    Types of Massage

You do not need to know what type of massage will help you most. You can print and complete a client information form before you come, or arrive early to complete one before your appointment. The client information sheet will give your therapist an understanding of your specific needs and goals. Your therapist may use a combination of massage styles within a single session to achieve the best result for you. However, to give you a general idea, here is a list of the different types of massage we offer if you already know what you need.

Aromatherapy Massage - Essential Oils/Aromatherapy can be added as an accompaniment to any therapeutic massage. Combining well chosen and high quality Young Living essential oils with a carrier oil can promote relaxation, reduce stress and/or help to improve circulation and reduce swelling and pain. Your therapist will work with you to find just the right aromatherapy combination... whether you are looking to reduce pain, re-energize or reduce stress.

Swedish Massage - This type of massage is good for relaxation and stress relief. It is generally a full-body massage which lasts one hour. Long, gentle strokes are applied to major muscle groups, gentle music is played, and warmed lotion is used for an idyllic “vacation massage”.

Deep Tissue Massage – For clients experiencing muscle tightness, this type of massage might be a good solution. Gentle pressure is used at first to loosen the major muscle groups; then a firmer pressure is applied to target the deeper muscles and tendons. Because this type of massage is ineffective if it hurts, it is important to let your therapist know if you are experiencing any pain or discomfort during the course of your session.

Sports Massage – Athletic injuries can inhibit future participation in sports and interfere with your daily life. We can help speed up your recovery through massage and offer suggestions for home treatment, such as stretching and exercises.

Neuromuscular Therapy – This form of bodywork is designed for individuals suffering from acute or chronic pain. Rather than trying to work the entire body, the therapist maximizes time by focusing on the specific muscles at the source of the pain, as well as other muscles and fascia (tissues) which may be involved in the pain syndrome. Because of the sensitivity of the tissues being treated, an ongoing dialogue is encouraged.

Myofascial Release – This form of massage works to release the superficial fascia covering all muscles, bones, organs, and veins. Restrictions in fascia of one part of the body can hinder movement in other areas of our body. Releasing this tissue helps restore movement and flexibility.

Hot Stone Massage – This modality uses smooth river rocks as extensions of the therapist’s hands to perform the basic movements of Swedish and Deep Tissue Massage. The heat transfers from the rocks to penetrate deeply into the muscle tissue providing an overall relaxation and deep release of tight muscle tissue.

Prenatal/Pregnancy Massage – This massage is preformed only after the first trimester of pregnancy is complete. Prenatal massage is used to reduce low back pain and focus specifically on the issues facing an expecting mother. A pregnancy pillow or side-lying position is used to achieve a comfortable position for this massage.

Lymphatic Drainage – This is a gentle massage technique similar to Swedish that focuses on reducing swelling and fluid retention.

Reflexology – This is massage preformed directly on the hands and feet to achieve relief throughout the body.

Reiki - Reiki is a hands on energy technique used for relaxation and stress reduction. Reiki has been documented to bring about deep spiritual, mental, and physical well being. The technique promotes balance and harmony, which allows for a greater sense of wholeness and renewed energy for life. Reiki is performed through clothing to restore and unblock the energy centers of the body.

Reiki-ssage - Reiki-ssage is a beautiful combination of Reiki and Therapeutic Massage. This unique blend of bodywork, emotional, and spiritual support is extremely peaceful and deeply healing. Experience 90 minutes of enhanced relaxation today.

Himalayan Salt Stone Massage - One reason Himalayan salt stone massages feel so rejuvenating is because the stones contain 84 natural minerals that generate positive health effects. They also produce negative ions, which are known to have uplifting effects on your mind and spirit. This restorative massage provides deep relaxation and helps to relax body, mind and spirit. When our meridians are balanced, maximum vitality and health are experienced. The specific points of the body are stimulated to balance the entire system and effectively start working energy in the right pathways, helping to unblock areas of congestion. This treatment is for everyone, and with the addition of the Himalayan salt stones and heat, it is a truly memorable experience.

  • Float Therapy

Our top of the line float room offers you rest, relaxation, and restoration as you disconnect from an over connected world. Float therapy offers you a sensory free experience for your mind, and a gravity free experience for your body. This is accomplished by allowing you to lose awareness of where your body ends, and the water begins, in a room where air and water are both kept at body temperature, and the water holds over 1000 pounds of Epsom’s salt which forces your body to float.

We ask that every client fill out the client information form before their float session. You can print the form and bring it with you, or arrive a few minutes before your session to complete it at our facility.

    Frequently Asked Questions?

Why do you recommend trying the Float Room at least 3 times before you decide if it is right for you?

The first visit is a learning experience, a second float makes you understand the potential of regular floating and the third float makes you understand the benefits of why you float. For this reason we do offer reduced pricing with a “starter pack” that is listed under pricing along with a loyalty program for frequent floaters.

    Is the water clean?

Water cleanliness is a top priority. Water is added and tested daily. We will reschedule your float if there is any indication the water is not in excellent condition.

The float room is filled with approximately 200 gallons of salt water solution. 1000 lbs. of dissolved, pharmaceutical grade Epsom salt make up this solution. That concentration of salt alone is an excellent sanitizer, but in addition to that, we use a powerful dose of ultraviolet light, ozone, and a daily treatment of a 27% H2O2 solution. Filtering is accomplished through a cartridge filter system which traps debris as small as 5 microns. The system runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with exception of float session time.

There are no hard chemicals used. Ultraviolet light destroys over 99.9% of the organic matter and pathogens found in pools and spas. Ozone is the most powerful oxidizer in nature and is considered the world’s number one defense against modern resistant organisms while producing no by-products. Hydrogen peroxide, H2O2 works in similar manner to ozone producing an additional layer of oxidation. This triad of sanitation processes will assure that our clients will enjoy crystal clear, safe and chemical free salt water environment.

How long is a float session?

A 60 minute session typically works for first visits. As customer become more comfortable, they can extend sessions and figure out what works best for them. We will work with you to get the time you need figured out and scheduled if it is beyond 60, 90, or 120 minutes.

    What should I bring?

You must use our products BEFORE you float to keep our water clean so you really don’t need to bring anything unless you choose too. We provide:

    • Shampoo and Body Wash (prefloat)
    • Wash cloths, towels and a robe
    • Earplugs, qtips, vinegar solution for ears, and petroleum jelly for cuts
    • Shampoo, Body Wash and Conditioner (post float)
    • Our "Ready Room" with hair dryer and a few products you can use after if you choose

What you bring for AFTER your float depends on what you plan to do after. You are more than welcome to bring personal items and fresh clothes for after you float.

Can I wear a swim suit in the float room?

Absolutely. There is no “right” or “wrong” way to float. This is your session. You should do whatever makes you feel comfortable to achieve YOUR best result. Research on what to wear will most often say to float with no clothing for a complete anti-sensory experience. However, if this will hinder you from reaching a total relaxation, or if you are dealing with chronic pain, you should do what’s right for you. If you choose to wear your swim suit, please make sure it is clean, Shower with your swim suit on before your float to rinse any remaining detergent.

Are there times where I should NOT float?

Yes. Along with water cleanliness, safety is another top concern. For those two reasons we ask that you sign a waiver and acknowledge the following situations are not a good time to float:

    • Infectious skin or respiratory disorders
    • Open wounds
    • Any type of incontinence
    • Epilepsy or serious mental conditions
    • While menstruating
    • A high-risk pregnancy
    • Under the influence of any drug or alcohol
    • Under 18 without parental presence
    • Temporary hair color is not permitted, permanent hair color is permitted 48 hours after coloring. Swim caps are available

    Will I be claustrophobic?

If you are concerned about feeling claustrophobic, you should watch our introduction video and come check out the float studio before making an appointment. A float room is much less likely to cause claustrophobia than a pod or old fashioned tank but checking it out ahead of time is probably a good idea. We want to help you get comfortable before making a decision. The room is very spacious and you can float with the door open during your visit if you still are not sure but want to try.

Can two people float in one tank?

Unfortunately not. Our float room is spacious but not made for two. If you want to bring a friend we have massage therapists and our infrared sauna you can both try while the other is floating. We also have a relaxing waiting area with tranquil music to help you enjoy your wait.

Does Epsom salt make my skin wrinkle or become dry?

Nope. Actually it will have the opposite effect. Epsom salt is great for your skin and will feel great after you float!

  • Infrared Sauna Therapy

Infrared light therapy is becoming really popular because so many people want the health benefits of sunbathing, without the harmful effects it can have for your skin. We added one to our clinic because we thought this was a great compliment to help people relax while obtaining other health benefits along the way.

We ask that every client fill out the client information form before their sauna session. You can print the form and bring it with you, or arrive a few minutes before your session to complete it at our facility.

An Invitation To Sunlighten from Sunlighten.

    Benefits of Infrared Sauna Therapy

    infrared-sauna
    • Reduce Back, neck, arthritis pain
    • Lower blood pressure and improve circulation
    • Detoxification and weight loss
    • Increase ability to relax and meditate

Infrared light is part of the sun’s invisible spectrum of light that has the ability to penetrate the human tissue. The light heats the body rather than just the air. The increase in your body’s core temperature results in a much deeper, more detoxifying sweat and increases your metabolism. A 30 minutes session in the sauna can help people burn up to 700 additional calories and is incredibly relaxing.

You can completely relax in the sauna, or you can listen to music and select a lighting option for no additional charge. Just like your float and massage experiences, you can completely customize your session.

Chromo Light Therapy can help with “winter blues” or other problems that studies have shown can be treated with light therapy. Chromotherapy lights are available during your sauna session. For more information visit our vendor's website

    Frequently Asked Questions?

    What should I bring?

You don’t need to bring anything to use the sauna. We provide towels and water. We have music and guided meditation you can use or you can bring your own. Please let us know ahead of time so we can make sure we have time to pair your device and get it working for your session. Once we get you set up the first time, you should be good to go for future sessions.

What you bring for AFTER your sauna session depends on what you plan to do after. You are more than welcome to bring personal items and fresh clothes for after. You are also free to relax in our waiting area after.

What do I wear in the sauna?

You should wear whatever makes you feel comfortable to achieve YOUR best result. Research will advise you to wear as little clothing on as possible to allow your body to sweat and detox. However, our sauna is big enough for three people and we realize you may want to wear clothing. If you wear clothing, we advise that you wear light and loose clothing that allows your skin to breath.

How much will I sweat during my session?

This is of course different for each person. However, it is important to know that you may not sweat the first few minutes. In fact, you will wonder why the sauna isn’t warmer right away. The sauna is heating your body from the inside out, so a warm and relaxing sensation will slowly happen during the session. Sweating will also increase with regular use.

Where can I learn more about the infrared light technology and benefits?

We did a lot of research on infrared saunas before we purchased the Sunlighten Sauna. There is a TON of information regarding the safety and testing done on Sunlighten Sauna’s on their website. They also speak to their patented technology regarding Near, Mid, and Far light technology and carbon emissivity. Please check it out and if you have any questions that we can’t answer, we can contact the vendor for you.
